1. Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)
Studies show the optimal amount of vitamin C may be 2000-3000 mg per day. The typical American diet provides only about 110 mg. In particular, vitamin C supplements increase the amount of this nutrient in the human eye to protect from bombardment by solar ultraviolet rays. Vitamin C should be accompanied by bioflavonoids (pigments from cherries, berries, grapes and citrus rind) equaling 70 percent of the amount of vitamin C. Deficiency signs are skin bruising, bleeding gums, fatigue and cataracts.
According to John T.A. Ely , Research Associate Professor Radiation Studies, Space Science Division, Physics,University of Washington :
"All mammals have the same requirements for AA. Among mammals, only humans, the other primates, the guinea pig and a fruit eating bat are known to have lost (by genetic defect) the ability to synthesize AA. It is most important to appreciate that other features of AA kinetics were not lost. The same high needs exist in these four non-synthesizers that constitute an abnormal group. It is observed that many and possibly all ~4000 other mammals are normal and synthesize AA copiously from glucose in the liver. This is necessary because AA has numerous functions necessary for optimum health requiring its presence continuously at high concentrations throughout the body. These functions and the associated high serum levels, far above the AA renal threshold, ~1.4mg/dL (mg/deciliter, commonly read "mg per centum" and written mg%), are the same in the 4000 normal and the four abnormal mammals. Thus, both groups of mammals have approximately the same daily AA requirements, ~50mg/(kg body weight), to replace urinary and catabolic losses when young, healthy and unstressed. It is possible, with care, to obtain this amount from food (Pauling, 1987,p.99). (On The Science of Essential Nutrients) "
Since humans are mammals, it is reasonable to assume that a 154 pound person may need at least 3,500 mg daily.
We recommend ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate, the forms preferred by Two-time Nobel Laureate, Linus Pauling, and Heart Technology. Vitamin C
Quercetin - This remarkable herbal remedy is a bioflavonoid similar to rutin found naturally in red onions and red apple peel. Quercetin exhibits strong anti-viral action, is a natural anti-histamine, has pain-relieving properties, and is good for diabetics. Supplement with 500-2000 mg per day. We recommend Activated Quercetin.
2. Vitamin D3
The high rate of natural production of vitamin D3 in the skin is the single most important fact every person should know about vitamin D because it has such profound implications for the natural human condition.

3. Iodine is HUGE!
According to many doctors, 150 ug, (mcg, sic) the RDA (now DV) for Iodine is short by about 2 orders of magnitude. Healthy Japanese women living in Japan consumed a daily average of 13.8 mg total elemental iodine and they experience one of the lowest prevalence (risk) for breast, ovarian and uterine cancer. Please read Consequences of Iodine Deficiency, and bring your iodine levels up to protect you from thyroid malfunction, cancer cardiovascular disease and much more.
View this slideshow, Healthy and Harmful Halogens, Iodine and Fluoride.
When consuming milligram quantities of iodine it is imperative to also receive optimal amounts of omega 3, magnesium and selenium according to Dr. Donald W. Miller, Jr, M.D.
More suggested reading on Iodine include Iodine for Health and Extrathyroidal Benefits of Iodine by Donald W. Miller, Jr, M.D.
Iodine is a major detoxifier of mercury, bromide and fluoride. We recommend IODORAL.
Avoid Goitrogens, which include fluoride, soybeans, peanuts and commercial white flour products. Almost white flour bakery products use bromates.
Excessive ingestion of certain foods can block iodine from being absorbed by the thyroid gland; these include: turnips, cabbage, mustard, cassava root, pine nuts, millet, peanuts, and soybeans. Until your thyroid health is restored, you may want to avoid these foods completely.
Omit All Refined Grains, Sugar, and Substances that Tax the Thyroid
Foods that are the most taxing on the thyroid are foods many Americans eat every day such as refined grains, sugar and sweets, caffeine (coffee, black tea, sodas, and chocolate), hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils, and alcohol. Avoid all refined grains such as white and wheat bread, rolls, biscuits, pancakes, pizza dough, pasta, and buns. The peanut butter sandwich is a perfect example of a really bad choice for the thyroid--refined grain bread and peanut butter--a goitrogen.

5. IP6 Rice Bran Extract - nature's "rust remover"
This mineral-chelating (removing) supplement regenerates liver, blood, kidneys and brain tissues by removing excess iron and calcium (but not iron from red blood cells nor calcium from the bones). IP-6 "dries up" the free iron supply required by parasites, bacteria and viruses for growth. Free iron, along with copper is a notorius co-conspirator involved in the creation of the hydroxyl radical, which can harm tissues and damage the brain.
Important Article: Looking in all the wrong places for a molecule to prevent your brain from rusting
From Wikipedia,"Any element that has an unpaired electron in its outermost shell is considered to possess a "free radical". For most biological structures free radical damage is closely associated with oxidative damage. Oxidation and reduction are redox chemical reactions. Most people can understand oxidation damage as they are familiar with the process of rust formation of iron when exposed to oxygen. Learn how to protect yourself from The Iron Time Bomb . Oxidation does not necessarily involve oxygen, after which it was named, but is most easily described as the loss of electrons from atoms and molecules. The inverse reaction, reduction, occurs when a molecule gains electrons. As the name suggests, antioxidants like vitamin C (ascorbic acid) can minimize oxidation and are often electron donors. Free Radical Theory of Aging .
Take IP-6 with water on an empty stomach for maximal effect. We recommend IP-6 Powder by Source Naturals. For addional cleansing benefits, consider R-Lipoic Acid, a more powerful form of alpha-lipoic acid, which is a potent heavy metal chelator and the strong redox electron donor known as "The Universal Antioxidant."
Also consider Taurine, one of the most abundant amino acids in mammalian tissue is a sulfur containing amino acid necessary for bile acid conjugation.
Taurine is an antioxidant and inhibitory neurotransmitter that plays a major role in stabilizing the heartbeat and electrical activity of the nerves by modulating calcium fluxes and neuronal excitability.
Taurine maintains photoreceptor cells, osmoregulation and cell proliferation; other biological functions include cellular growth, membrane stabilization, and sperm motility.
Taurine may also benefit athletic performance as it acts as an insulin mimetic, thereby allowing for better glucose deposition into muscles.
Green Tea is another plant miracle with benefits as a rust remover (chelator).
Green Tea contains helpful polyphenols called catechins. The star performer, EGCG is one of the most important catechins helpful in overcoming insulin resistance, blocking adipocyte (fat cell) formation and inducing aptosis (cell death) in adipocytes. Thermogenic Green Tea may also help maintain healthy body weight.
EGCG is a collagen stabilizer that reduces smooth wall vascularization in coronary arteries and seems to down-regulate irregular cell growth in cervical and other important tissues.
EGCG also helps to support proper liver, cardiovascular, joint and immune system functions.
6. Magnesium
Magnesium is possibly the most under-rated mineral after iodine. With 8 in 10 Americans deficient in this muscle-relaxing mineral, it is no surprise that Americans suffer with chronic muscle spasms of the heart, legs and eyelids. Backaches and constipation are other signs of a shortage. A supplement to provide an additional 400 mg is our minimum suggested daily dose.
Magnesium is critical for energy production. This master nutrient is vital to every cell in the body. Thus, magnesium deficiency not only prevents calcium from being deposited in bones, but impairs kidney, adrenal, heart, brain, muscle and digestive function, compromises nerve transmissions, restricts carbohydrate metabolism, inhibits the activities of "B" vitamins, retards new cell growth and slows the production of DNA.
Energy Production is one of magnesium's most important duties in the formation of ATP, which is the molecule that provides the energy for virtually everything that occurs within the cells. When we lack magnesium, ATP becomes scarce, metabolism slows, homeostasis becomes more difficult to maintain, stress takes ever greater tolls, and fatigue sets in.
Magnesium is necessary for the normal function of over 300 enzyme systems including muscle relaxation, immune function, cardiac function, clotting, and nerve conduction. Magnesium also helps to overcome anxiety and improve bone hardness. Try Ultra-Mag or Ion Charge. Avoid magnesium oxide.
Taurine is an important companion nutrient to magnesium.
7. Omega-3 oils from fish
The diet of 8 in 10 Americans is deficient in Omega-3, and unless cold-water fish is consumed on a regular basis (3 servings or more per week of cod, salmon or tuna), supplementation is advised.
Fish Oils contain EPA and DHA, important long chain fatty acids not found in flax seed oil. Deficiency signs are dry skin, dry hair, dry eyes, brittle nails.
We recommend ArcticPure™ DHA Liquid Natural Lemon Flavored. Flax Oil is not a substitute because only 5% to 8% is converted to EPA-DHA. However, Flax Oil is still a good source of healthy Omega-3 fats that can help correct the ratio caused by an overabundance of Omega-6 oils (linoleic acid) which promote atherosclerosis.
8. A Good Multivitamin
Choose one that is iron-free, with extra folic acid, selenium and boron, based upon scientific studies. The American Medical Association now says every American needs to augment their diet with a multivitamin. We recommend Life Force.
For extra Folic Acid as calcium folinate, we recommend Megafolinic, the bioactive form of folic acid. To understand the importance of folic acid supplementation, please read Bill Sardi's blockbuster report:
The Other (Totally Preventable) Pandemic Health Authorities Don’t Talk About
For extra selenium, we recommend the most effective selenium compound containing Methylselenocysteine, Activated Selenium.
Acetyl-L-carnitine: This cell cleansing nutrient eradicates debris called lipofuscin that accumulates in cells in the brain and eyes. In a recent experiment, old rodents given ALC and alpha lipoic acid, resumed activity levels of young animals. 1000 - 1500 mg per day along with 200-300 mg R-lipoic acid to enhance mitochondrial function and to remove heavy metals.
Lignans: Plant-based estrogen-like molecules obtained from flaxseed, exhibit unusual properties to normalize hormone levels and provide nutritional support for tissues in the breast, prostate, heart, kidney and liver. We recommend 2 tablespoons of fresh ground organic flax daily or Lignan Extract from Source Naturals. Another fine source of lignans is Barlean's FORTI-FLAX available at your local health food store.
NOTE: We do not recommend calcium supplements to adults over 25 years of age that would increase calcium consumption above 800 mg daily. Calcium is associated with a higher risk of heart attacks. To understand why, read this important breakthrough article by Bill Sardi:
To maintain youthful vibrance, consider adding hyaluronic acid. This water-holding molecule rejuvenates the skin, hair, eyes and skin. Probably one of the most dramatic age-reversing supplement for adults. We recommend Skin Eternal from Bio-Cell Collagen II™.
9. COQ10 & R-Lipoic Acid
COQ10 is used by the body to convert food into ATP, the energy that powers all living cells. Also, COQ10 is a powerful antioxidant protecting the body from dangerous free radicals. People, especially those on cholesterol lowering drugs need extra COQ10.
R-Lipoic Acid, along with its partner, R-dihydrolipoic Acid is rightfully called The Universal Antioxidant.
We recommend the unique products of Geronova Research.
Bulletin: Misleading Information Circulating on Coenzyme Q-10
10. Probiotics
A suitable probiotic provides a human origin, acid stable, bile tolerant PROBIOTIC SUPPLEMENT that IS NOT antibiotic resistant. Do not waste your money on products that contain "soil organisms," or cheese bacteria, bulgaricus, casei, ramnosus, thermophilus or plantarum. These bacteria are destroyed by stomach acid and bile. We recommend Florajen Probiotic Supplements by American Lifeline, Inc., a company owned and operated by world-class bacteriologists. Florajen probiotics stimulate the body's natural defense systems by maintaining a healthy intestinal tract.
Modern lifestyles and dietary changes have depleted many of the beneficial micro-organisms critically important to the body’s natural balance. While medications are the primary culprit, other causes include: stress, sugar, alcohol, pollution and fast food.
